Funding Your Archer Fellowship
Program and Housing Fees
Participation in the Archer Fellowship Program is an investment in your future. While the cost of participating in the program is designed to be comparable to studying on campus for a semester, actual cost comparisons will vary for individual students. Students pay a flat program fee to their home institution in lieu of the usual tuition and fees paid for a semester of coursework on campus. The program fee is currently $4,900. Students pay this program fee and the living expenses incurred while living and working in Washington, D.C. (including, but not limited to, groceries and appropriate professional attire for your internship). Students are also responsible for the housing fee, which is not expected to exceed $4,900 for the 2022-2023 academic year. Undergraduate Archer Fellows must live in Archer Fellowship Program housing.
Substantial funding from the Archer Center, individual campuses, the Archer Center Trust, and the Archer Fellow Alumni Association is available for students. Prospective Archer Fellows should attend an information session or email [email protected] with specific funding questions.
Scholarships and Financial Assistance
Because Archer Fellows are registered as full-time students on their home campuses, students have traditionally received any financial aid or scholarships they would normally utilize or qualify for in a typical semester on their home campus.
The Archer Center is partially funded by several endowments created by our founder and generous donors. These endowments allow the Center to keep the program fee at $4,900 while the actual cost per student is much higher. Additionally, all Archer Fellows are eligible to apply for a number of scholarships made possible by generous Archer Center supporters and the UT System Board of Regents.
Washington, D.C. Metro University Pass (U-Pass)
The Archer Center currently provides each Archer Fellow with a Metro Card during their semester in D.C. through the Washington Area Metro Transit Authority (WMATA) University Pass (U-Pass) Program. U-Passes provide unlimited rides on WMATA transit throughout the semester and are of no additional cost to the student.

Testimonial
“The Archer Fellowship Program truly changed my life. Through the Archer Center, I was able to intern at the White House, I gained lifelong friendships, and I even got my current job in D.C. at Akin, Gump through an Archer Center connection. I recently was accepted to UT Law. A law school admissions officer told me afterward that the Archer Fellowship Program significantly boosted my application. I would not have been able to participate in the Archer Fellowship without receiving financial assistance through the Archer Center – specifically through the first-generation college scholarship award. As someone who does not receive financial assistance from their parents, the investment from the Archer Center made a huge difference in my life. Not only am I the first person in my family to receive a Bachelor’s degree, when I complete law school, I will be the first in my extended family to receive any sort of advanced degree. The Archer Center changed my life. It can change the life of not only an individual, but an entire family and future generations to come.”
Michael Stanley, Fall 2017 Archer Fellow
