The Archer Center named a scholarship in honor of Dr. John A. Daly, beloved Archer Fellow professor and mentor on September 22, 2012. Dr. Daly has made a significant impact on the Archer Fellowship Program since its very beginning and has taught all undergraduate Archer Fellows since the program’s first semester in Spring 2001. The scholarship of a variable amount will be awarded to one deserving Archer Fellow each semester beginning in Spring 2013. The selection process will be managed by the Archer Fellow Alumni Association Scholarship Committee.

Archer Center and AFAA Launch Annual Giving Program

Across the nation and even around the world, Archer Fellow alumni are engaged in their communities, continuing their education, and managing exciting careers.  And many directly attribute their current successes to their participation in the Archer Fellowship Program.  The Archer Center and AFAA are pleased to introduce an Annual Giving Program for alumni to affordably give back to the program that has given so much to each of them.

The mission of the Archer Fellow Alumni Association is to facilitate opportunities for graduates of the Archer Fellowship Program to socialize, network, fundraise and otherwise support the ongoing efforts and growth of the Archer Center.  Annual giving to the AFAA will lay a foundation of growth for the AFAA, provide scholarships to future Archer Fellows, help fund new initiatives of the Archer Center, and underwrite networking events to connect and engage alumni across the country.

To make a tax-deductible contribution to the AFAA Annual Giving Program, visit the Archer Center online portal by clicking here.  Select “Archer Alumni Association” from the second drop-down menu.  Be sure to select the third option for “Sustaining Gift,” and indicate that your donation will be recurring annually.

The Archer Center announces the Donald G. Carlson Scholarship Fund

The Donald G. Carlson Scholarship Fund was established in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of The Archer Center to honor the contributions of Mr. Don Carlson, Chairman of The Archer Center Advisory Board.  The Donald G. Carlson Scholarship Fund provides essential scholarship awards to Archer Fellows, allowing the best and brightest students from the University of Texas System the priceless opportunity to live, learn and intern for a semester in Washington, D.C.

Each semester, Mr. Carlson is a guest teacher for the Archer Fellows, where he shares his wealth of knowledge on the policy making process and Capitol Hill from his 30 year career serving Congressman Bill Archer and the 7th Congressional District of Texas.  Since 1998, Mr. Carlson has played a crucial role in the development and long-term sustainability of The Archer Center.  He mentors Archer Fellows and alumni of the Center, often taking an active role in their professional careers and job searches.  His leadership and commitment to The Archer Center, our students and our mission have been unmatched.  Please support our mission of educating the next generation of Texas leaders for local, state, federal and international service by making a gift to this fund named for a remarkable public servant.
